First Steps in 2011

January has been a very busy month. In the January 2 blog, I called 2011 the year of Moving Forward, and if this month is any indication, it certainly is that kind of year. In fact, I have been "moving" so much that I am only now getting to this blog report. Here is where I've been:

January 9 I spoke at Christian Fellowship Church, WME's founding church, where Senior Pastor Richie Clendenen is doing a great job of leading the church to impact the community and the world. The folks there responded to the challenge to give to missions to see God's work advance. WME appreciates this church, its pastor and its wonderful people. It is so true that CFC has stood in the gap for missions and if it was not for the love and support of this key church, WME could not be doing what it is worldwide. Thanks CFC!

On January 11 I flew to San Jose, California to meet with Cityteam/New Generations and their team for a discussion of Church Planting Movements. We really value our partnership with Cityteam and their leaders, and we are always excited to see and hear what God is doing around the world. I returned home on the 14th, and had 1 night at home.

On the 15th, my wife Patty and I traveled to near Cincinatti to speak at the Cave Hill Independent Church of God in Versailles Indiana. This church is a key partner with WME. For the last 10 years they have stood faithfully with this ministry as we have equipped church planters and engaged in ministry in India, Romania, Indonesia, South Africa, Swaziland, Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala. Pastor Doug Norman is leading the church forward in impacting both their community and the world. It was also good to see Brother Pearl Cornett, the founding pastor and all our friends at Cave Hill. They stepped forward this year and their faith promises for the Great Commission increased this year. Thanks Cave Hill!

On the 18th, I flew to Honduras for a strategic meeting with Randy and Linda Travis and Keith and Juanita Travis (and Juanitia's sister Magnolia who is staying with them). I also met with our Honduran CPM coaching team (church planters). Seeing Adiel, Jacobo, Oscar, Mario, Daniel, Edin, and Carlos was a real highlight of the trip. Although my stay was brief (I flew home on the 22nd) this was a key strategic time. Randy, Keith and I spent hours together in strategic talks as we look forward to Moving forward in 2011. We also did a very profitable training session with the Honduran coaching team. Here is a brief excerpt of our strategic thinking for 2011:

Core Project: Currently 127 Discovery Bible studies in about in 6 or 7 departments of Honduras as well as Guatemala.
2011 Moving Forward goal: Team is "decentralizing" from the 1 base in Copan to 3 new bases. In the Danli area a new region will be opened up that will also open the corridor into Nicaragua. We expect much expansion this year, as well as church development.
We are planning at least 3 "Equipping Events" in Honduras (In April, August, and November we think). These events will be special trainings focused on skill development and cpm principles for our Honduran team. In CPM, leadership development is primarily through mentoring, but these events will be special equipping times for the team. 1 goal is for our Honduran team to develop beyond implementers of cpm, to becoming trainers and even trainers of trainers.

Catalytic Projects: We will be focused on Current and New Catalytic Partners in 2011 as well. We are working with 1 of our current partners to train some of their leaders in CPM principles, and in coordination with this may be training some leaders from a "restricted" nation as well. New catalytic partners are being developed and several possibilities for this are before us with potential of bringing cpm to other regions, peoples and nations.

WME's overall Goal for the HCPM project in 2011: Become a Catalyst for CPMs throughout Central America and beyond.

So January has been a month of "Moving Forward" as we are taking "First Steps" ahead. To you the reader, prayer partner, and supporter we say thanks and ask for your continued involvement in this year.
