The Fourth Era Of Modern Missions by David Parish

We are living in the most exciting times in the history of the Church. The first 30 or so years of the Church are detailed in the Book of Acts. The story from Pentecost to Paul’s arrival in Rome is told in 28 brief chapters and spans from 30 A.D. to about 60 A.D. The book tells the story and also demonstrates the pattern of what the church is designed to be and do. I would contend that the last 20 years of Christian History have begun to match the excitement of those initial years. The kingdom of God has been expanding exponentially and we are just beginning to see the impact of this on our world.   Here are some highlights from the last 20 years of Kingdom expansion. In 1989, a missionary begins to focus on an almost totally unreached Megabloc of peoples in North India. In initial outreach, 6 native evangelists are brutally murdered. From the ashes of this first attempt, the missionary begins to focus on a disciple making strategy, linked to Obedience based discipleship. By 19

3 Reasons to Plant New Churches (And Not Just Grow Existing Ones)

I believe in Church Growth!  There is nothing more exciting that spending time in a growing, vibrant local church.  I remember the excitement I felt a few years ago, when attending some large church growth and cell group conferences.  Any thing that brings people to Christ and causes Christ's Kingdom to increase should thrill the heart of every believer.  However, I have come to believe that the most important focus for the advance of God's Kingdom is not growing existing local churches into bigger local churches, but rather is multiplying many new local churches.  In both strategies people are saved.  But in Multiplying New Local Churches there are advantages for the forward movement of the Kingdom that go beyond the possibilities of Church Growth.  To take a thought from Jim Collins....Growing Churches is Good.....Multiplying Churches is Great! Make no mistake, we want the new churches to grow as well.  We are delighted to see that churches that have been planted in the H

Good Reports from 3 Regions of the World

It is a great joy to get good reports from around the world as we see God's work advancing.  Here are some excerpts and highlights from the 3 regions where WME missionaries are working toward Church Planting Movements and Disciple Making Movements: 1.  Indonesia Region:  Troy and Tracy Allen are in the Indonesia Region and are making a great adjustment to the new culture.  Their deployment is the fruition of many years of prayer and work and as they have been getting settled we are excited to see what God is doing through them in this new region of work.  They are making connections and laying groundwork for future Disciple Making Movements! 2.  Botswana, Africa:  WME missionaries, Michael and Heather Walker are training and empowering people to begin new DBS groups and make disciples using Discovery Bible Studies and the Megavoice players.  Michael recently had an injury to his triceps and is recovering from surgery.  The weekend before his surgery, he made a trip to a village
