The Big Picture

Welcome to the WME blogspot in 2009. This year I will be taking the readers on a journey into a new church planting movement project in Honduras, Central America. The previous posts from 2008 tell alot about our history and what has brought us to this point. Now we move into the new year with great anticipation of what God is going to do.

In this first blog of the year, I want to give you some "Big Picture" information about World Missions and Evangelism, Inc. I want to let you know our objectives and our strategies....really the reason why WME exists and what we hope to accomplish this year and in the next decades.

In this and in the next few blogs I will share WME's Mission, Vision, Goals, Strategy, and Tactical Plan for the future as I see it right now. Of course, WME and all of us are works in progress and are open for new directions from the Lord. But for now, let me tell you how I understand these things....and I hope for your interest to grow, as well as prayer and support.

Mission: WME's mission is to obey the following words of Jesus Christ:

"And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." " (Matthew 28:18-20, English Standard Version)

Vision: WME's vision is to see the fulfillment of the following words of Jesus Christ:

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14, ESV)

Goal: WME's goal is a result of sensing an assignment from the Lord. This understanding is one that has been growing since I was first called to the Missions enterprise in 1983 and especially since the founding of WME in 1988. Although worldwide in scope, it seeks to operate in the spirit that the Apostle Paul spoke of when he told of his assignment in 2 Corinthians 10:13-16 where he says, "But we will not boast beyond limits, but will boast only with regard to the area of influence God assigned to us, to reach even to you. For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we did not reach you. For we were the first to come all the way to you with the gospel of Christ. We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that as your faith increases our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged, so that we may preach the gospel in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in another's area of influence." (ESV)
In the spirit of this passage of scripture we state our goal as an organization.
WME's goal is to facilitate church planting movements worldwide with special emphasis in Latin America and among an unreached people group in the far east. Specifically our goal is to plant 100,000 reproducing churches and reach the assigned people group (name kept private for security reasons) by the year 2030.

Such a goal might seem outlandish and even arrogant, if it were not understood that:
1. WME does not think it will do this alone, but with key and strategic partnerships with other agencies, networks, churches and leaders.
2. WME acknowledges that this can only be done by the power of God Himself Who actually gives the increase.
3. WME has sought the counsel of outside leaders, one of which has actually seen the planting of 100,000 churches in the last 18 years.

So here are the Mission, Vision and Goal of WME for the future. In the next posts I will share about the Strategy and Tactical Plan of our work.

Thank you for your faithfulness in doing your due diligence to keep your blog readers informed. The verses in IICor. were an excellent example of the true spirit of the church planting movement. All we can do is what God has assigned us but our prayers are for those reached by our efforts that their faith will increase and they in turn may complete their assignment of reaching others and those reach others and so on and so on that exponential multiplication takes place. Our faith is joined with yours daily.
