God is Moving!

This year, 2011, WME has set the phrase "MOVING FORWARD" as its theme. The Lord impressed this to my mind, I believe, very strongly and I wrote about it in the first blog note of this year.

It is hard to believe that the year is now drawing toward a close. Can it really be just a couple of weeks till Thanksgiving? And Christmas and the New Year is just around the corner. And as the year is winding down, we are getting amazing reports from the Honduras Church Planting Movement Project. We have called this the year of "Moving Forward", but all I can say right now is "God is Moving" and praise Him for all that He is doing.

This month we are doing an assessment of what has happened this year and will be reporting some wonderful things on this blog before year end. But as an example, let's just talk about what happened yesterday!



On the home front, I shared about the work at one of our partnering churches, and more than 20 people signed up to be a part of the Prayer Team that we call the 300 Group. (You can join the prayer team by sending me an email at dparish9@cs.com and saying that you want to join the team. You will then get prayer requests from the Honduras work sent to you each week. Pray 5 minutes a day for the work......together, hours of prayer are happening each day for God's Kingdom to advance in Honduras).

In Honduras, HCPM team member Mario was leading a new Discovery Bible Study and 5 people decided to follow Christ! A new church was being born in a Honduras village!

People are praying and others are being saved and becoming disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ!

GOD IS MOVING!

The Holy Spirit and Disciple Making Movements

Recently at the Disciple Making Movement leadership meeting in California, one of the main topics that we focused on was the Role of the Holy Spirit.  A key leader from West Africa led the discussion of this topic.  I remember being especially challenged by this study and by interactions with this leader.  He is a special friend who I have known since 2006, and his influence has touched me greatly.  In the last few weeks since the meeting, I have reflected, prayed, and begun to seek the influence of the Holy Spirit more than I had been doing in recent years.  Now I want to share some reflections on the role of the Holy Spirit in Disciple Making Movements (which may or may not reflect the discussions we had in California).  Regardless of where one stands theologically, it cannot be denied that those who focus attention on the Holy Spirit's activity have seen the launching of some of the largest "Movements" in the history of the Church.  Think of the Pentecostal/Charism

Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura: The Theology of CPM

I believe in a theological position that I call Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura refers to the Reformation doctrine that means "Scripture Alone" and that asserts that the Bible alone, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the only inspired Word of God and that they are the sole authority for God's people, flawlessly communicating God's will to mankind.
