Moving Forward

The Honduras CPM project is moving forward. I was just visiting with our Strategy Coordinator, Randy Travis. The project is moving into new territories as our team works diligently to take the Discovery Bible Studies into new geographic areas.

Let me explain our 2 main thrusts into Honduras and then share how far the impact of the HCPM project is reaching as we have entered the last quarter of the year. The HCPM project is divided into 2 complementary strategies: The Direct Project and The Catalytic Partners. The Direct Project involves our team that was recruited and trained in the department of Copan in 2008. Beginning in late 2006, WME had laid the groundwork for this outreach for nearly 2 years. From September 2006 through July 2008, out strategy coordinator team had formulated the strategic plan, gained training, developed our access ministry tactics, obtained the location in Copan for our training base, and recruited and trained our Honduran team. They launched into the village areas in late July 2008. That Direct Project is continuing and having far reaching impact. Beginning in the late summer and fall of 2009 the Catalytic Partner aspect of the HCPM project began, as our team (during the time of the government troubles in Honduras) shared with others in the Olancho area the CPM principles. Eventually another denominational leader came for training and that wing was launched. Then in January and February of this year, another group was trained for Catalytic partnership in South Mexico.

Here are the departments and regions in which these various aspects of the work are now conducting DBS groups.

Direct Project: The Honduran Departments of : Copan, Intibuca, Ocotepeque, Santa Barbara, Lempira, Cortez, and Colon. Also the Direct Project has now crossed the border and is conducting DBS groups in Guatamala.

Catalytic Partners: The Honduran Department of : Olancho (2 different catalytic groups). Also a group in South Mexico.

(For your info, a department in Honduras is equivilent to a state in the US)

To sum up, the HCPM project is currently working directly and catalytically in 8 departments of Honduras (out of 17 total in the country) and also in Mexico and Guatamala. Currently our best estimate is that this involves over 200 DBS groups occuring now. These are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation groups.

I just wanted to give a brief update on where the work stands at this date. Please continue to pray for the HCPM project.

Thanks for the update, David. It is good to hear how the studies are spreading. I continue to pray for the churches that will come from these groups. May God bless the DNA that is being planted there with rapid multiplication. I pray they will be "rabbit" churches!
