AMAZING PROGRESS IN THE INSTAR PROJECT

 We are so grateful to God for the new reports we are receiving from the INSTAR Project.  In the 2nd Quarter of this year, over 3,000 People made commitment to Christ and over 3,000 were baptized in the over 800 New Groups and Churches that were birthed from April to June!


The INSTAR Project was started in 2008, when Missionaries Randy and Linda Travis and Keith and Juanita Travis began training leaders in Honduras to use the Disciple Making Movement Strategy to Make Disciples that Make Disciples.  Eventually a Honduran Leadership Team emerged that includes Mario Mejia, Daniel Ortega, Adiel Ponce, Carlos Andrade, Rigoberto Colindres, Jacobo Hernandez and Oscar Hernandez. This Vision Team continues to lead and direct the work in Honduras. Since the beginning thousands and thousands of groups and churches have been birthed and an amazing movement began that is now 32 Generations deep!


As the movement grew it expanded from Honduras to Guatemala and Nicaragua, and then to Argentina in South America.  The focus began to move from the general populations of the countries to the Unreached Tribes in those countries.  Now we have 4 Teams in formation and in action focused on 1. North American Native American Tribes, 2. Central America and Mexico, 3. Caribbean, and 4. Southern South America.  Plans to develop 8 more teams are on the drawing board, to bring the gospel to all Unreached People Groups in the Western Hemisphere!  This year a Missionary Training School has been launched in Cosquin, Argentina that is training young men and women to be Missionary Disciple Makers using the DMM Strategy.  Next January, teams will be sent from there to engage 2 Unengaged Unreached People Groups in Southern South America.


But these new 2nd Quarter Reports have given us reason to pause and give God Praise for the Harvest that only He could give.


Altogether, here are the results from the INSTAR Project that we have tracked:


Approximately 90,000 people have been touched by the Discovery Bible Studies

67,443 Recorded Professions of Faith in Christ for Salvation

63,425 Recorded Baptisms

32 Generations of Groups and Churches!


In Fact, in spite of the extreme difficulties of the Year 2020 (that continue through the present as the Covid Pandemic continues to create havoc in Latin America and the Caribbean), the total number of Groups and Churches and Conversions and Baptisms has:

MORE THAN DOUBLED IN THE LAST 3 YEARS! PLEASE GET THAT! THE PROJECT BEGAN EXACTLY 13 YEARS AGO IN JULY 2008.  IN THE FIRST 10 YEARS THERE WAS GREAT ADVANCE AND HARVEST.  BUT IN THE LAST 3 YEARS, WHICH INCLUDED THESE LAST COUPLE OF DIFFICULT YEARS…….THE TOTAL HARVEST HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED IN SPITE OF EVERY OBSTACLE!

ONLY GOD COULD DO THAT!!!

The Holy Spirit and Disciple Making Movements

Recently at the Disciple Making Movement leadership meeting in California, one of the main topics that we focused on was the Role of the Holy Spirit.  A key leader from West Africa led the discussion of this topic.  I remember being especially challenged by this study and by interactions with this leader.  He is a special friend who I have known since 2006, and his influence has touched me greatly.  In the last few weeks since the meeting, I have reflected, prayed, and begun to seek the influence of the Holy Spirit more than I had been doing in recent years.  Now I want to share some reflections on the role of the Holy Spirit in Disciple Making Movements (which may or may not reflect the discussions we had in California).  Regardless of where one stands theologically, it cannot be denied that those who focus attention on the Holy Spirit's activity have seen the launching of some of the largest "Movements" in the history of the Church.  Think of the Pentecostal/Charism

Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura: The Theology of CPM

I believe in a theological position that I call Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura refers to the Reformation doctrine that means "Scripture Alone" and that asserts that the Bible alone, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the only inspired Word of God and that they are the sole authority for God's people, flawlessly communicating God's will to mankind.
