Feed Honduras-INSTAR

Dear Friend

My prayer for you is that God blesses you in an abundant way this summer.  In spite of the various crises in our nation and world, I want to encourage you that God’s Kingdom is advancing!

Recently the Lord brought the scripture to my thinking in Mark 1:14-15.  It says, 
“14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

I remind you that Israel was under the boot of Rome, and the True Prophet John Baptist was in prison.  But Jesus announced that the Kingdom of God was at hand!
Likewise, as I write this there is a global Covid Pandemic, and unrest in the streets in our nation.  But in spite of these things, let’s lift our eyes to see that God’s Kingdom is advancing.  It is advancing as God’s people Pray, Give and Go to spread the Gospel!

We are excited that the native american Disciple Making Trainings will launch in July in Alaska and continue in August in Washington state.  The word continues to multiply in Honduras and Argentina.  And the new Prayer Website (www.instarprayer.org) is launched!  Please visit the Prayer website and join in prayer for the Unreached People Groups in the Western Hemisphere!  

The Pandemic has caused many problems worldwide.  In Honduras, where the heart of the INSTAR project is located, the Pandemic has led to lots of critical needs as people have been locked down for months.  People in villages have been struggling to have needed food and supplies to exist.  Our INSTAR team is seeing this as an open door to serve needy people and to spread the gospel.  We have launched a project called:  Feed Honduras-INSTAR.  All proceeds to this fund will be quickly turned into food and other living necessities and delivered to needy families.  Our team has already ministered to nearly 300 families and nearly 1,200 people with food and supplies for families of 4.....food that will last each family 3 weeks!  

 Here is one testimony from our Strategy Coordinator Keith Travis:
Last week one of our team members named Mario had been giving out food in a community, and a man in that community had found out about it. This man thought that Mario was bringing help on behalf of the government and was angry that Mario had not brought any to his family. He complained about it to another man in the community and became angry and began to demand that Mario bring him food. The other man calmly answered him and said you are wrong, my friend. This help does not come from the government. Mario is a man of God, and God has sent this food to him to distribute as God leads him. Mario prays every day, and God directs him where to take the food. The angry man quickly calmed down, and after the other man left, he decided that if God was the one that directed Mario where to take the food that he needed to pray and ask God to send Mario his way. The problem was that he didn't believe in God. Out of great necessity to feed his family, he got on his knees and prayed. He said God, you know that I don't believe in you, but if you are real, send Mario my way with food so I can feed my family. About an hour later as Mario drove down the road the Holy Spirit spoke to Mario and sent him to this man's house. Mario didn't know about the man being angry at him nor about what had happened an hour earlier. When Mario showed up to this man's house, and as he walked through the gate, he proclaimed God has sent me here to bring you food. Tears began to well up in the man's eyes, and he said thank you, God. That day he acknowledged that God is real. We now have an opportunity to help him turn to the Lord and disciple him to a relationship with Christ. There are many stories similar to this that have been told to me over the last few weeks.

The Holy Spirit and Disciple Making Movements

Recently at the Disciple Making Movement leadership meeting in California, one of the main topics that we focused on was the Role of the Holy Spirit.  A key leader from West Africa led the discussion of this topic.  I remember being especially challenged by this study and by interactions with this leader.  He is a special friend who I have known since 2006, and his influence has touched me greatly.  In the last few weeks since the meeting, I have reflected, prayed, and begun to seek the influence of the Holy Spirit more than I had been doing in recent years.  Now I want to share some reflections on the role of the Holy Spirit in Disciple Making Movements (which may or may not reflect the discussions we had in California).  Regardless of where one stands theologically, it cannot be denied that those who focus attention on the Holy Spirit's activity have seen the launching of some of the largest "Movements" in the history of the Church.  Think of the Pentecostal/Charism

Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura: The Theology of CPM

I believe in a theological position that I call Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura refers to the Reformation doctrine that means "Scripture Alone" and that asserts that the Bible alone, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the only inspired Word of God and that they are the sole authority for God's people, flawlessly communicating God's will to mankind.
