The Year of The Upper Room

At the end of last year, I posted a blog article that gave what we believe to be the Lord's Vision for World Missions and Evangelism for 2020.  We are calling this A New Season of Opportunity!

Also we have 4 themes for this year that we believe the Lord has given us.

1.  The Year of the Upper Room :  Prayer Focus

2.  The Year of the Open Heaven:  Resources

3.  The Year of the Open Door :  Catalysts

4.  The Year of Unleashed Multiplication:  Movements

The first focus is the foundation of everything:  Prayer.
Acts chapter 1 shows the disciples returning to Jerusalem after Jesus ascended to Heaven.  He told them to Tarry until the coming of the Holy Spirit.  Certainly we know that the Holy Spirit has already come, but as someone once said, You can either Tarry for the Holy Spirit or Tarry with the Holy Spirit, but if you want spiritual power, you must do some Tarrying!

During those 10 days between the Ascension and Pentecost, the disciples did 2 main things: They Prayed and they Immersed themselves into the Word and Obedience to it.  That is what we believe God is telling us to do at WME.....focus on Prayer and Hearing God in His Word.  This becomes the foundation of everything else that He does in sending Resources or training Catalysts (missionaries and gospel workers and disciple makers) or in Unleashing Multiplication through Disciple Making Movements (DMM) and Church Planting Movements (CPM).

Personally, I have been focusing my Winter months on the Word and Prayer.  And Our focus for this year concerning Prayer is guiding our First Major Project of 2020.  You will hear more soon, but for now just know that the New WME Prayer Website is in Development.  Our Goal is to give access to key Information about Prayer for Missions and Movements and to train and raise up many intercessors for the Great Commission.  In the coming months we will announce the launch of the website.  It will contain Research on the Unreached Indigenous People Groups of the Western Hemisphere.  It will contain Videos to help you and inspire you to pray.  It will contain a new book that I have written on Prayer for Missions (which you can download from the website for free). It will contain much information that will help you develop your prayer life and focus on prayer for missions.  It will give you an opportunity to become a part of the Prayer Force that will Pray the Harvest before we Reap the Harvest!

So...Please Pray as we finalize the development of the New Prayer Website for the INSTAR project in the next few weeks.  And be Watching for the next blog article that will announce it's Launch!

The Holy Spirit and Disciple Making Movements

Recently at the Disciple Making Movement leadership meeting in California, one of the main topics that we focused on was the Role of the Holy Spirit.  A key leader from West Africa led the discussion of this topic.  I remember being especially challenged by this study and by interactions with this leader.  He is a special friend who I have known since 2006, and his influence has touched me greatly.  In the last few weeks since the meeting, I have reflected, prayed, and begun to seek the influence of the Holy Spirit more than I had been doing in recent years.  Now I want to share some reflections on the role of the Holy Spirit in Disciple Making Movements (which may or may not reflect the discussions we had in California).  Regardless of where one stands theologically, it cannot be denied that those who focus attention on the Holy Spirit's activity have seen the launching of some of the largest "Movements" in the history of the Church.  Think of the Pentecostal/Charism

Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura: The Theology of CPM

I believe in a theological position that I call Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura refers to the Reformation doctrine that means "Scripture Alone" and that asserts that the Bible alone, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the only inspired Word of God and that they are the sole authority for God's people, flawlessly communicating God's will to mankind.
