Gearing Up for a Busy Fall: Opportunities for CPM Training

The year 2012 is more than half over and we are starting to look at our schedule for the fall.  Here are some of the things we will be involved in at World Missions and Evangelism.

1.  Fundraising Events:
     a.  Yardsale to benefit WME:  To be held at the WME offices at 1335 US Hwy 68 East, Benton,KY 42025.   Thursday and Friday, August 30-31.
     b.  Booth to benefit WME at Barbeque On The River, Paducah, KY.    September 27-29.

2.  Speaking Events:
    a.  Go Church in Cincinatti Ohio:  August 5  11 AM service, 8986 Mason Montgomery Road
    b.  New Life Temple:  Cincinatti, Ohio    :  Teaching at Conference about Church Planting Movements in North America      October 11-14
    c.  2 Day Discovery Bible Study training:  Christian Fellowship Church, Benton, KY  September 14 and 15

3.  Training Opportunities:  Announcing the "Engage" course in Brentwood TN.  I will be part of the teaching team for this course this fall.  Engage - A 12 week interactive course of discovery.  This class will combine key missions training with specific training focused on applying church planting movement strategy in the US.  The curriculum consists of:
Pathways to Global Understanding - a time-tested curriculum that has helped transform thousands of lives over the last 15 years.

Discovery Bible Studies (DBSs) - A Biblical method of discipling unbelievers to faith - taken right from the words of Jesus as recorded in Luke chapter 10!

Join us as we discover God's mission past, present, and future and your part in it both locally and globally.

This course will help you to:

Engage God's word. Discover what the Bible says about God's plan for winning a lost world.

Engage God's mission history. Discover how God used our spiritual forefathers to lay the foundation for engaging the lost world.

Engage the world. Discover your part in God's plan and how you can take that next step both here and abroad.

The Classes will meet each Sunday Evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. from September 9 through December 9.  The Classes will be held at :  New Song Christian Fellowship in Cool Springs, 316 South Gate Ct, Brentwood, TN

The Holy Spirit and Disciple Making Movements

Recently at the Disciple Making Movement leadership meeting in California, one of the main topics that we focused on was the Role of the Holy Spirit.  A key leader from West Africa led the discussion of this topic.  I remember being especially challenged by this study and by interactions with this leader.  He is a special friend who I have known since 2006, and his influence has touched me greatly.  In the last few weeks since the meeting, I have reflected, prayed, and begun to seek the influence of the Holy Spirit more than I had been doing in recent years.  Now I want to share some reflections on the role of the Holy Spirit in Disciple Making Movements (which may or may not reflect the discussions we had in California).  Regardless of where one stands theologically, it cannot be denied that those who focus attention on the Holy Spirit's activity have seen the launching of some of the largest "Movements" in the history of the Church.  Think of the Pentecostal/Charism

Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura: The Theology of CPM

I believe in a theological position that I call Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura refers to the Reformation doctrine that means "Scripture Alone" and that asserts that the Bible alone, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the only inspired Word of God and that they are the sole authority for God's people, flawlessly communicating God's will to mankind. The "Sola" or "Only" part asserts that nothing else does this or has this authority....Not Tradition, Magisterium, Hierarchy, Leaders, or Experiences from whatever source....ONLY SCRIPTURE!
