What are you reading?

“You're the same today as you'll be in five years except for the people you meet and the books you read.” Charlie "Tremendous" Jones

I think that there is profound truth in those words. The journey that I have been on for the last several years has been influenced by some of the best people I have ever met and some of the greatest books I have ever read. Getting involved in Church Planting and Disciple Making Movements has allowed me to meet, learn from and interact with some of the finest people in the world. I won't even begin to name them here.

But for the benefit of blog readers, here is a lists of the Key Books that have been influencing myself, our organization and our mission team as we have journeyed into the CPM/DMM world. Here is the top 10.

I heartily recommend them all!

1.Perspectives Edited by Ralph Winter and Steven Hawthorne.

2.Church Planting Movements by David Garrison.

3.,4.,5.Good to Great by Jim Collins (and its sequels, How the Mighty Fall and Great by Choice).

6.Operation World edited by Jason Mandryk.

7.Organic Church by Neil Cole.

8.The Forgotten Ways by Alan Hirsch.

9.,10.Spiritual Warfare by Jerry Rankin (and the sequel, Spiritual Warfare and Missions).

And now comes an addition. I will have to put it on top and make this the top 11 picks!
By all means get "Miraculous Movements" by Jerry Trousdale. Its published by Thomas Nelson and available now from Amazon. The greatness of this new book lies in the fact that it is a report of the CPM/DMM principles at work in a specific area of the world (Africa, and primarily the Muslim world) and a fascinating explanation of the principles at work. If you have read none of these books, then start with "Miraculous Movements" and then read the others to get additional depth and foundational concepts.

I wish you good reading and a great journey forward if you put the principles into practice!
