Merry Christmas and Praise Reports from Honduras

Merry Christmas to all from World Missions and Evangelism, Inc. God has been so good to us this year, and we would like to give praise to Him for His many blessings to us and to those involved in the Honduras Church Planting Movement project. This year the geographic area of where the project was involved has expanded greatly. Last year at this time, Honduras was coming out of nearly 6 months of governmental crisis that had impacted our work as well. Today peace and stability have been reestablished (although the nation still has many problems).

As an example of the works expansion:

3 years ago: December 2007 - The strategy coordinator team was preparing to begin the project, no work had begun.

2 years ago: December 2008 - The team had begun work in 5 departments of Honduras, but with no multiplication yet.

1 year ago: December 2009- The work had been hampered by nearly 6 months of government crisis, but the project was working both directly and catalytically in 6 or 7 departments of Honduras and a seed was being planted in south Mexico (much of it because of necessary relocations of the team caused by the crisis).

Today: December 2010 - The direct project has operated in 9 departments of Honduras (out of 18 total, half of Honduras) and has crossed over into Guatemala (the team that has been working there has crossed a river 29 times 1 way to get to the region where we are working!). The catalytic project has operated in 1 department of Honduras and a large number have been trained and begun Discovery studies in South Mexico.

Our Discovery Bible studies are in many villages and some are 4th generation studies.

Here are some testimonies from studies that have been sent to us by Keith Travis, the assistant Strategy Coordinator for HCPM. This was written by our Honduran Team Member Oscar:

Santa Barbara, October 2010
As we went out to different villages selling medicine one day we came across a colonia called the Samaritan. We went up to a house offered our medicines and a man came out to meet us. We began to talk to this man and he told us that his name was Ines. He began to tell us that he was a coordinator in the catholic church. He said that he wanted to be our friend. We then told him that apart from selling medicines we also liked to study the Bible and that we would like to study with him if he was interested. He said he not only wanted to study the Bible with us but that he wanted to start his own studies with new families. In each one of the studies he has started there are around 16 people coming to them and they have their Bible study every three days. Praise God.

Santa Barbara, November the 8th 2010
Don Ines had presented me to David. They invited me to a Bible study that Don Ines had started at David's house. We went to the Bible study and they started the study. In the Bible studies there is a question that is always asked. The question is : is there someone in the community that has a need that we as a group can help them with? The next question is: who will you share with at least one thing you have learned in this Bible study today? There was someone at the Bible study that was sick so we helped them that week. For the next study we went to Domingas house. There where 17 people that showed up to have the study. David lead the study since his application to the second question in the first Bible study was that he was going to lead a group in the Bible study. In the study that David led there is a question that is always asked at the beginning of a study. The question is :is there anyone that would like to thank God for something He has done for you this week? David said: I have been in bed sick this week but thanks to Oscar and Esteban and the Bible studies I received healing so I encourage you to continue having the Bible studies.

Asacualpa, Santa Barbara June 2010
Don Tino was in the park getting ready to go to a village where he lives. I saw him, walked over to him, and began to talk to him. He asked me what I did for a living. I told him that I sold medicine and that I would like to go to his village to sell my products. He said that would be good but how would we meet up with each other? I told him that if he wanted to give me his phone number that I could call him when I got there. I called him every day for the next few days. He was always nice to me on the phone. I went to his house on Saturday. We spent the day together and he invited me to stay the night. The next time I came to his house it was the same. This time I took my things out to sell something to him and he saw the megavox. He thought it was a radio and asked me how much the radio cost. I told him that if he was interested in what the radio had to say that we could listen to it. So he gathered his family together and we had our first Bible study.

Sapotal, Santa Barbara May 2010
Don Luis attended us and shared his testimony with us. He said that he had been terribly sick and in bed but thanks to our visits he was healed by way of the Bible studies and that he is thankful to Oscar and Esteban for bringing the Word into their home.

These testimonies illustrate some of the ways that Discovery Bible Studies are started, how some persons of peace have been found, and how God is working in the studies with 2 testimonies of healings.

Praise God and thank all of you who have prayed and given to see this work go forward.
