Center of the Center

To all the blog readers, my apologies for the delay in an update. I am just now getting back to the blog after the trip to Honduras. We (businessman Caleb Gentry and I) had a marvelous time in Tegucigalpa. We went to participate in a conference of missionaries in Tegus.

I was able to share CPM testimonies and some principles on Friday and Saturday of last week. Missionaries representing 8 ministries were present and several have expressed interest in further information on CPM. This was our first effort to begin an informal network or consortium of missionaries/ministries that would be interested in being catalyzed in CPM principles for the ultimate goal of multiple CPMs in Honduras and Central America. Thanks to all our prayer base members who held this time up to the Lord.

On Saturday morning, our first session was a prayer time for Honduras and Central America. The participants spent time calling out to God for revival and the reaching of this region for the Kingdom of God. During the prayer session, John Mattica, a missionary/pastor in Tegus, who was the convenor or the conference, drew a map on a white board and showed how that Honduras is the Central nation in Central America. What I mean is that geographically, there are 7 nations in Central America and 3 are to the west or north of Honduras and 3 are to the south and east of Honduras. On the west side are Belize, Guatemala, and El Salvador, and to the east and south are Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. In terms of Land travel, you have to pass through Honduras to get from 1 side to the other. So of 7 nations, Honduras is right in the middle, the Center.

Then considering that Central America is, of course, in the Center of North America (Canada, USA, and Mexico) and South America.....means that in that sense...Honduras is the Center of the Western Hemisphere. (Of course the Western Hemisphere includes numerous island nations as well). The point is that as the group looked at the board and prayed and talked, some of us got an understanding of the strategic nature of what happens in this small nation of Honduras. Our prayers and focus is growing from what happens in our project and our ministry and even our region, to our larger region (Central America) and our whole western hemisphere, and our whole world.

Honduras, the context to which our initial focus has been called, is one of the neediest, if not the actual neediest nation in this region....in terms of both physical and spiritual poverty. We feel God has led us to draw a bullseye of grace on the map of this Center of the Center place. Our prayer and goal is nothing less than the total discipling of Honduras for Jesus Christ, in such a way that it ripples out in ever larger ways till all have heard and every nation and people in this hemisphere has recieved the gospel, and had the opportunity to be an obedient disciple of the Lord Jeus Christ.

This meeting in Tegus has opened new doors, forged new relationships, encouraged our faith and enhanced our vision for what is possible in terms of Global Church Planting Movements. Our committment to do whatever it takes to see this happen has never been greater.
