Pray for Traveling Mercies for HCPM team

Dear Friends,

Prayer is critical to the success of every Church Planting Movement. Once again, I want to encourage all our readers to become a part of the HCPM intercessory team by connecting directly with our prayer coordinator, Tom Geerdes. It seems like September becomes a time of travel for our team members each year. Please remember us all for traveling mercies in the next few weeks especially. Here are our plans at present.

Randy, Linda, Keith, and Juanita Travis have driven from Honduras to South Mexico in the last few days where they will be involved in giving more training in cpm principles to the folks there. Then on the 16th of this month, Randy, Linda, and Keith will be flying to the US for a month in order to rest a bit and handle some business, as well as a time of strategic planning with myself. Keith will be flying back to Mexico first, and then Randy and Linda will follow on October 20 and then they will all be driving back from Mexico to Honduras.

Richard and Pat Crowder will be leaving around the 11th to drive from Alabama to Honduras. They will be ministering for a couple of months in children's ministry in Honduras. Pray for them to have health, safety, and blessing as they reach kids for Christ.

Please remember all of the Honduran team who are continuously traveling over trecherous roads in Honduras to mentor leaders and help with the Discovery Bible studies. Pray for Adiel, Jacobo, Daniel, Adam, Mario, Esteban, Oscar, and Paco as they travel on foot, by public transport and on motorcycle.

I will be traveling a lot over the next few weeks as well. To Morton's Gap, KY to share with one of our partnering churches, Vinyard Worship Center this Sunday the 12th. Then to Dallas, TX Sept 17-19 to share cpm principles with another mission organization. Down to Nashville, TN on the 22nd to be a part of a missions lunch focusing on an upcoming training for reaching Muslims for Christ. Then to Detroit, MI Sept 23-25 to meet pastors with a new fellowship of churches and introduce them to WME and the cpm strategy. I really appreciate all of your prayers as I travel.

The Holy Spirit and Disciple Making Movements

Recently at the Disciple Making Movement leadership meeting in California, one of the main topics that we focused on was the Role of the Holy Spirit.  A key leader from West Africa led the discussion of this topic.  I remember being especially challenged by this study and by interactions with this leader.  He is a special friend who I have known since 2006, and his influence has touched me greatly.  In the last few weeks since the meeting, I have reflected, prayed, and begun to seek the influence of the Holy Spirit more than I had been doing in recent years.  Now I want to share some reflections on the role of the Holy Spirit in Disciple Making Movements (which may or may not reflect the discussions we had in California).  Regardless of where one stands theologically, it cannot be denied that those who focus attention on the Holy Spirit's activity have seen the launching of some of the largest "Movements" in the history of the Church.  Think of the Pentecostal/Charism

Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura: The Theology of CPM

I believe in a theological position that I call Non-Cessationist Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura refers to the Reformation doctrine that means "Scripture Alone" and that asserts that the Bible alone, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the only inspired Word of God and that they are the sole authority for God's people, flawlessly communicating God's will to mankind.
