Haiti, Mexico, Texas, and Honduras

Dear reader,
Here is a quick update on WME's activities in the last month as 2010 has begun, and a preview of February.

HAITI:
WME has partnered with Worldwide Missionary Evangelism (Dale Yerton, Missions Director), and Lifelines Ministries (Don Jones, President)to get funds for Haiti relief. Many people have responded with offerings and this will be an ongoing project throughout this year. WME also plans to work with the Full Gospel Fellowship Missions Department to send support and relief to Fellowship ministries in Haiti. For now, here is a quick report from Worldwide Missionary Evangelism Mission Director, Dale Yerton.

Haiti Update

The Worldwide Missionary Evangelism group would like you to know:

Dear WME Member, Thanks for the wonderful response to the Haiti Relief Offering. To date we have raised almost $150,000. We will be able to help a lot of people with such a generous offering. Here is what has transpired to date. Doctors Rik and Sabine Celie have been in Haiti for one week giving medical attention to those injured in the earthquake. Kent and Candy Christmas are still trying to get into Port-au-Prince. They have been able to get some money wired to help their orphanage. Dominic Russo sent a team from the Dominican Republic last weekend with food to feed over 5,000 people multiple meals. Eddie Whittemore is planning a trip to Port-au-Prince next week and will take money to help the 400 orphans that he helps to oversee. He also will be taking an offering to help Elim missionaries Roger and Margaret Clark purchase a truck. James White, a WME missionary in the Dominican Republic is sending in food and medical supplies via planes from the DR to Haiti. Roy Peterson, Missions Director for the IMA Fellowship is in Haiti with relief funds for the ministries they help oversee. Bill and Marlene Burch tell us all their boys and workers are safe, but their home was destroyed. I am thankful that we have been able to help with these emergency relief needs. The next stage will switch from relief to rebuilding. Jason Hanks is helping us put together a container filled with medical supplies and temporary building supplies. We plan to ship this container from New Orleans to Port-au-Prince. Roger Clark will pick up the supplies and help distribute them. We would like the pastors to please communicate with us about any people you have which would like to be a part of a construction team going to Haiti later this year. We want to begin putting together teams of ten which would concentrate on one building project for one week. The dates Roger has given us for the first teams would be February 19-28, anytime between March 21 and April 30, and July 1 and August 31. We envision sending many teams through the end of this year. Please let us know if you have any people who would like to go. Again, God bless you for all you do to advance the Kingdom of God.
Dale Yerton

MEXICO:

Randy Travis and I traveled to Chiapas, Mexico and joined Keith and Juanita Travis in conducting a 3 day training for about 120 people in CPM principles. God's blessings were apparent as this training event took place January 21-24. In mid February Randy will conduct some follow up training for these people and we are expecting many of them to begin to implement the principles in south Mexico. Pray with us for disciples to be made, churches to be planted, and a church planting movement to begin that will move from south to north Mexico, and cross the border into Guatemala!

TEXAS:

Several WME personnel are planning to attend the Verge conference in Austin, Texas from February 4-6. This conference will be centered on cutting edge missional training. David Watson, the missionary who has trained our church planting team, will be teaching on CPM, and a number of other leaders in the Church Multiplication and Missional movements will be sharing. The WME team that plans to attend include:
David Parish, President; Russell Bivin, Field Representative; Randy Travis, Honduras Strategy Coordinator; Linda Travis, Missionary; Keith Travis, Missionary; and Larry Hardin, Missionary and Bible School leader in Kenya. Randy, Linda, and Keith Travis will leave directly from the conference to travel back to Honduras, stopping briefly in Chiapas, Mexico to further train potential cpm workers.

HONDURAS:

By mid-February Randy and Linda Travis will be back in Honduras and meet with our Honduran team. Discovery Bible studies continue to multiply. Many are nearly at the stage of becoming churches. We believe that nearly 2000 people are involved in these studies. The WME Honduran team believes that there are studies in nearly 350 locations now, and 2 other denominational groups that have been trained may have 60-70 more groups. Conservatively, I believe that from the WME project and others that have been trained, there may be at least 400 locations in Honduras with Discovery Bible Studies occurring. Please cover this work in prayer. Our prayer is to see a full blown CPM occur in Honduras. We believe that this will be a year of great advance.

Thanks for your prayers and support.

Hi, my name is Johnny. Right now, I am in Beirut so it would be hard to make arrangements to speak to you via phone, but I think we have similar goals and interests.

I have been in the middle east with Arabs for Christ since 2003. We are focused on doing evangelism and Church planting throughout the Arab World.

I tried using your contact form on your website but couldn't get it to work right.

Please send me an email sometime: John@ArabsforChrist.org

Thanks

Johnny

David, this is great news about the work in Honduras. I praise God for the ways he has knit our hearts together since that Perspectives class Jerry Trousdale taught in KY and asked me to attend. Little did we know then that we would have opportunities to travel to Sierra Leone and see CPM fruits! God is good all the time!
