Plans for September: Travel Travel Travel
I usually do not post another blog article so soon, but wanted to give an update to everyone about the Honduras project and the plans for this month. This is especially so that you will join in prayer for all of us that are working in the project.
First of all, the Honduras team has continued to work in new areas even though the American missionary team has not been there since July 1. We believe that over 50 new discovery Bible studies have begun since then. In spite of political unrest the work of God continues to multiply in Honduras.
Beginning tomorrow, September 2, there will be much travel for everyone involved. Randy and Linda Travis have been in Kentucky with me at our offices for most of August and have been preparing recorded materials for our studies to use. That process is coming to an end today, and tomorrow, Linda will travel to their home in Alabama to pack for their return to Honduras. Randy and I will travel together tomorrow toward Dallas, TX where we will attend the national house church conference. We hope to meet new people and learn important things that will help the churches develop. The conference ends on Sunday afternoon, the 6th and we will go to Alabama from whence Randy and Linda will leave on the 9th to fly back to Honduras.
Richard Crowder will take some of the supplies and equipment we are taking down there as he flies to south Mexico this Friday. There he will link up with Keith Travis and they will drive from Mexico, across Guatemala, and into Honduras in order to pick up Randy and Linda and the supplies they are bringing at the airport on the 9th.
From there the whole team of Randy, Linda, Richard, and Keith will go to our base at Santa Rosa and the Honduran team and perhaps, some other leaders from another state of Honduras where part of our team has been working for the last 2 months, will gather there as well. Materials will be finalized, some new workers may be trained, and the team will redeploy into the village areas where our studies have been. They will assess the situation in our studies and encourage more multiplication. We hope for new exciting reports in the next several weeks.
The American team will be in Honduras for several weeks and will then come out again and prepare to bring more supplies in October or November.
Meanwhile, I will be traveling with Ben Holloway to Mexico on the 17th of September to introduce cpm concepts to some leaders there. Also I will be traveling with 2 other brothers to Africa in October to teach about cpm principles at a pastor's conference that one of our missionaries is sponsoring.
It is an exciting time. Please pray with us in a special way.
Prayer requests are:
1. Traveling mercies for all of us as we drive, fly and/or walk these next 2 months. Please remember Randy and Linda Travis, Keith Travis, and Richard Crowder in a special way. Pray for special favor for them as Americans in the Honduran environment.
2. No problems at border crossings for personnel and supplies, at both road crossings and airports.
3. The safety of the Honduran team as they go into both new and old places for the studies.
4. The safe resolution of the Honduran political crisis.
5. The multiplication of studies, the making of many disciples to Christ, and the emergence of a genuine church planting movement.
Please know how much we appreciate your prayers for this project. They are making a great difference.
