Training in La Ceiba Honduras ends on notes of Victory
Dear Reader,
I write tonight from La Ceiba, Honduras where we have just finished the training for 9 different groups, totaling about 60 people taking CPM training for the first time. The training has been conducted by Randy and Keith Travis, as well as our entire Honduran team consisting of Adiel, Jacobo, Carlos, Mario, Daniel, Oscar and Beto. In addition, I taught the sessions on mentoring and we were assisted in the work and logistics this week by Caleb Gentry, Anthony Fouts and Frank Quintana. We were hosted by the Crusado Evangelico headquarters church and the area overseer, Santos Elvir.
What a wonderful time we have had. The training has been all day each day from the 16th to the 19th, and we have trained these groups and equipped them with megavoice machines to begin the work. There has been testimony that many of them will be heading back to their places of ministry and begin to implement the cpm strategy. We have great hopes that the seed that has been planted here this week will bear abundant fruit.
As an example of the enthusiasm in this group of trainees here is an incident that occurred. You may have heard that Honduras has had much problem this week. There was a large prison fire that killed over 300 people near the capitol. Protests have occurred and the result was the burning of many businesses in Tegus. This has made major news. Yesterday, during the training we found out that one of the men here at the training owned a small business in Tegus and that his entire business was destroyed in the fire....he lost everything. We gathered around him and prayed and took up an offering to help him. He told a friend here that he was not going home early just because he had lost his entire business. He had come to be trained in church planting and he stayed through the whole session to recieve the training. This morning as I saw him at the training he had a big smile on his face! With this kind of committment, there is no telling what will happen as these leaders begin to engage in disciple making!
While here we have also recieved reports that since our last report in November, there have been 12 more churches planted and an additional 44 DBS pre church groups established! 32 of these new DBS groups are among the Pech Indians, a tribe with less than 1 percent evangelical believers. Please place this tribe at the top of your prayer list and believe with us for a breakthrough in this people group that will result in a church planting movement for them and see this tribe completely reached with the gospel.
In total, we have now conducted, or trained those who have trained leaders from 17 different organizations in cpm principles in Honduras. As a consolidated report we believe that currently there are:
170 new churches.
130 DBS groups (approximately).
10 pre existing churches using some of the principles and growing.
2 nations touched (Honduras and Guatemala).
Half of the departments of Honduras touched by the project in some way.
Approximately 7,000 people touched by the work.
To God be the glory. Pray with us that God will send special blessings of the Holy Spirit and further multiply disciples and churches and groups and leaders!
