I recently returned from Las Margaritas in Chiapas Mexico.  Our strategy coordinator team of Randy and Linda and Keith an Juanita Travis and I conducted our first training event of 2014.  We gathered with a group of about 25 Indian believers and leaders and conducted a very intensive church planting movement training event.  The event was coordinated with Missionary Ricky Parker.  We were elated at the eager reception of the training by the leaders.  There was an openness and hunger for the training and we are expecting great things from this group of leaders.  Several were equipped with Megavoice machines to use in beginning discovery Bible studies.  This is just the beginning of what we believe is going to be a great year of training and equipping hundreds of leaders in the church planting movement strategy.  The next training is coming up soon in the Tegucigalpa area of Honduras where we are partnering with Missionary Jim Martin and his org...

The Spanish word Instar means to Urge or to Be Urgent.  I believe that this word sums up what we feel to be a theme for World Missions and Evangelism for the New Year of 2014.  The year that has just ended, 2013, had a theme of Open Doors….and it really proved to be such a year.  But in this New Year, I am impressed to think of the Urgency of the work of God among the Nations.    Missions work is Urgent because eternal souls are at stake.  Missions is not an optional task for God’s people….it is part and parcel of what it means to be God’s people.  When Jesus founded the Church, he was not starting an Institution, but rather He was starting a Movement.  The Early Church was a Disciple Making Movement that exploded through Israel and the Roman Empire like an unexpected Tsunami! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at World Missions and Evangelism. 2013 has been a great year for World Missions and Evangelism, and we have much for which to give thanks to God.  We called this year The Year of Simple Obedience, New Fields, and Open Doors in our first blog of the year on January 2, and it really has been that.   New Missionaries have affiliated with WME, Missionaries have been deployed to new fields, Many people have been trained as indigenous church planters and disciple makers, At least 196 locations in at least 4 nations have seen the birthing of new Discovery Bible Studies this year....and 96 of those are already at local church status, 462 groups and churches in 6 nations discipling close to 5,000 people is the total current impact of the CPM/DMM projects, Many have received Jesus as Lord and been baptized, and a Disciple Making Movement is moving forward in Latin America.  We think more people have been trained in the church ...

Contextualization is an important issue in mission strategy.  It is vital that as the gospel is presented to a new culture or people, the language used is clearly understandable to people in that group.  Much has been written about this and I stand in full agreement with a lot of the writings of key missiologists.  Wycliffe Bible Translators is, I believe, one of the key leaders in this field, because in translating the bible into many tribal languages, they have found wonderful ways to communicate biblical words and concepts that are grasped by the receptor groups.  Missionary Don Richardson's book "Eternity In Their Hearts" is one of my favorite volumes of missionary literature.  He explains how that key touchpoints in cultures are found.....left there by God.....that can be building blocks for communicating the gospel to tribal peoples.  I applaud these efforts and stand in agreement with them. In 2008, when I started this blog, I wrote a timeline of the launch of the project.  In November 2011, I expanded that report greatly to bring the story of the HCPM work up to date.  Now I am reproducing that blog here and have edited it to bring it forward to the present and also to edit it based on new information. Breakthrough is happening, but here is a story of the road to breakthrough and the path of multiplication since breakthrough. God is doing a wonderful work, and any progress is only to His glory and power. We have done a lot of trial and error in the last few years, but the Lord of the harvest has been working His plan all along, through, with and sometimes in spite of us!
