Exciting things continue to happen with the ministry of World Missions and Evangelism.  We are entering into the time of "Busy Summer".  Each summer time (May-August) for the last few years have been times of key travels and meetings in helping the Latin American Disciple Making Movement and other aspects of WME ministry to move forward.  This summer has already started out the same, and promises to be a time of many contacts, meetings, and trainings.  Please pray for us as we travel and make connections this season.  Pray that through all we do and all we meet and all we learn, that the Kingdom of God will advance around the world. Last year I wrote a blog on "Revival and Missions".  In it I discussed the relationship between the 2 and discussed the need that we have for both.  In this post, I want to share some ideas about how Revival of the Church leads to new thrusts in Missions and how that is really the purpose of Revival in the first place.  Most books and teachings on Revival discuss the spiritual nature of Revival and focus on the purpose of God in Reviving His Church.  But as I have been reflecting on the History of Missions and Revivals in the last 200-300 years, I have seen a connection that I had overlooked to some degree.  The thing that has brought this to the forefront of my thinking has been reading a new book called "The Power To Save" by Bob Davey, published by EP Books.  This book which was published in 2011, is a History of the Gospel in China.  I highly recommend it. The work in Honduras is continuing to move forward. Since the project began in 2008, our team has trained leaders from 17 denominations or networks in the Church Planting/Disciple Making Movement strategy. Our full time team and those who we have trained have made contacts with potential people of peace in many locations throughout more than half the departments of Honduras. Some sort of work has been done in approximately 700 locations in the nation. Wells have been drilled for needy families, school supplies have been given to hundreds of children, a school has been painted in a village, people have received vitamins for their children, and small micro business work has blessed people in village areas and provided access for the gospel. Of the 17 organizations that have been trained (including our primary team), we know that at least 6 of them have workers actively implementing the strategy. And at present, our latest statistics show that there are 172 new churches planted, and 210...

The diagram at the top of this blog article illustrates 4 leadership approaches that church and missional leaders can take when it comes to their ministry. Those 4 approaches are created by the way 2 specific leadership concepts relate to each other. If you can imagine that the vertical line represents the concept of Initiative Leadership, either high or low (top or bottom in the diagram), and that the horizontal axis represents the concept of Releasing Leadership, either high or low (left or right), then the 4 resulting patterns represent a style of leadership and the effect each produces in an organization or a movement. Let me unpack this a bit further with some definition. By Initiative Leadership, I mean leadership that actually initiates something. The old adage (I think I first may have heard it from John Maxwell) is that if you are leading and no one is following you are just taking a walk. The 13 th World Missions and Evangelism conference just ended this morning and it was a time of amazing blessing. Missionaries and believers were present who represented the work of God or provided reports from Honduras, Guatemala, Indonesia, Botswana, India, Afghanistan, Russia, Philippines, and special ministry to persons with intellectual disability. The reports of what God is doing was truly phenomenal. And during the weekend, a new assessment was received from the Honduras Church Planting Movement project. We received a much anticipated report from Beto in Honduras who reported the beginning of 72 new Discovery Bible Studies. This brings the Honduras project to 171 churches and an additional 207 Discovery Bible Studies....the gospel going to 378 locations.....all of which began with our first training of leaders that began on May 1, 2008. We now are in the 48 th month of the project, thus finishing 4 years in all and we can praise God and celebrate what is happening in the HCP...

This is missions conference week for WME. This Friday through Sunday, April 13 through 15, WME will be having its 13th World Missions Conference at Oasis Christian Center in Paducah KY. The conference begins on Friday evening at 7 p.m. with the first session. There will be conference sessions at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and the conference will conclude on Sunday Morning in the 10 a.m. service. Meals will follow every service. Oasis Christian Center is at 3232 Buckner Lane in Paducah KY. We hope that all the readers of our blog will come out and be a part of this great time of Worship, Word, and Encouragement. Our planned speaker, Syvelle Phillips of Evangel Bible Translators, is unable to be with us at the conference because of some health issues. He has recently been hospitalized, and although he is home and recovering very well, his physician has told him that he cannot make the trip. We hope that all of you will keep Bro.
