What are you reading?

“You're the same today as you'll be in five years except for the people you meet and the books you read.” Charlie "Tremendous" Jones I think that there is profound truth in those words. The journey that I have been on for the last several years has been influenced by some of the best people I have ever met and some of the greatest books I have ever read. Getting involved in Church Planting and Disciple Making Movements has allowed me to meet, learn from and interact with some of the finest people in the world. I won't even begin to name them here. But for the benefit of blog readers, here is a lists of the Key Books that have been influencing myself, our organization and our mission team as we have journeyed into the CPM/DMM world. Here is the top 10. I heartily recommend them all! 1.Perspectives Edited by Ralph Winter and Steven Hawthorne. 2.Church Planting Movements by David Garrison. 3.,4.,5.Good to Great by Jim Collins (and its sequels, How the Mighty Fall and

Looking Toward the Next Level

In this Blogpost, I want to take a look toward the future and, by faith, glimpse the next level of Disciple Making Movements in Latin America. As we do this I hope to focus our prayers and faith on seeing all peoples in all of Latin America discipled to be obedient followers of Jesus Christ. Have you ever seen pictures of our universe as taken by the hubble telescope? If so, you probably marvelled at the vastness and the beauty of God's creation on the MACRO Level. Then again, have you seen pictures or representations of the small building blocks of all matter and the atomic or sub-atomic particles that make up everything? If so you have also been amazed at the reality of God's creation at the MICRO Level. As I look forward into what we pray will happen in Latin America, I am seeing both a MACRO and a MICRO aspect of what we might call "The Next Level". Currently, according to our latest reports from the field, the "Honduras" church planting movement project

The Pech Indians

Recently during our training trip to La Ceiba , Honduras, we found out that 32 Discovery Bible Studies had been started among the Pech tribe. We had no idea that any of our catalyzed groups were targeting them in any way. That is how it happens in a church multiplying movement.....the work multiplies and enters new areas before the strategists even know that a group is targeted. A couple of years ago when I was in western Honduras with Randy Travis, we were in a very rural area where a well was being drilled. During our time there, Randy pointed to a distant mountain and told me that there was a remote village there that one of our church planting catalysts was planning to reach. A few days after I arrived back in the states, Randy told me that when Adiel finally got to the village (to which he had to walk since there were no roads there) he found a Discovery Bible Study already happening.....I seem to remember that it was a 3rd generation study from one of our earlier groups.
